Yoga Body and Mind in Kandy Sri Lanka

Peace – it’s not a given in this hectic world …unless you head to Sri Lanka on our Yoga Body and Mind programme! So, take time from your busy schedule to learn the basics of Yoga and Meditation, and about how the body benefits from these methods. Further, this programme will help you make those lifestyle and dietary changes to improve your mindset and wellbeing. In addition, you will also enjoy the luxury of Ayurvedic treatments to soothe away the tensions of the day!

Calm the Mind and Body in the Idyllic Location of Sri Lanka

During this programme, you will be taught the Surya Namaskar, commonly known as the Sun Salutation. Importantly, this is essential for students to master this before moving on to the second stage of Yogasana. Subsequently, if you achieve full practical competency in the Surya Namaskar, you will then be taught several more Asanas (up to 15 more depending on the ability of the student and the availability of time). All of these Asanas help to build a programme of wellbeing for you to take home with you and practice as a life regime for a healthy mind, body and soul.

Explore the Beauty of Sri Lanka’s Cities, Mountains and Forests

During your time here, you will naturally want to experience many of the landmarks that bring so many to Sri Lanka! Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens, Hortons Plains National Park and the Knuckles Mountain Range! Further, if you are keen to learn more about Sri Lanka’s Buddhist way of life, there are many temples and monasteries in and around Kandy to explore.  However, if, after a day of yoga, you simply want to share your experience with your new-found friends over a cool drink, our accommodation has communal areas for you to relax in and enjoy.

Firstly, beginner students will be taught Surya Namaskar, also known as the Sun Salutation.

Second stage

Successful students who succeed in learning the Surya Namaskar will be taught several more Asanas or postures.

Pranayama – Yogic breathing

Those students who complete the advanced stage can also learn about the various breathing techniques, which include body cooling and heating techniques, as well as ways to improve concentration.

During the Ayurvedic treatment, students will experience a traditional massage with herbal oils and a body scrub designed to help blood circulation, whilst also revitalising the skin.

Students will also receive a Dhara Treatment, where warm oil flows through a vessel straight on to the forehead at a slow pace; this helps soothe the forehead and allows sinuses to clear themselves of obstructions. In fact, this is often the favourite part of our programme for our participants!

Please note:

  • Participants are advised to refrain from smoking or consuming alcohol during their stay, as either practice can impede the effect of yoga.
  • This schedule can be changed and/or amended depending on weather conditions, local conditions and unforeseen circumstances.
