Volunteer Teaching in Kajjansi, Uganda

Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge with others and making a difference to children’s lives? Then TRU Experience Travel has the project for you. During this volunteer teaching project in Kajjansi you will spend your time assisting local teachers by sharing your knowledge of English with students in Uganda. Thanks to participants like you, primary school students who had never had the chance to interact with foreigners before, are now meeting and learning about other cultures, in their own school setting. Your time spent with them will not only help to expand their but it will teach you a thing or two as well!

Gain invaluable teaching experience by helping underprivedleged children

Local children in Uganda, particularly those in disadvantaged areas, rarely have the opportunity to meet and interact with foreigners. Despite the fact that English is one of Uganda’s official languages, most students do not have the opportunity to practice it outside of the classroom. During this project you will be assigned to a local school in the Kajjansi district where you will be able to boost children’s confidence in the English language whilst you boost your own confidence in teaching. You will be in charge of preparing lessons for the class, as well as assisting the local teachers and leading classes on your own!

Immerse yourself in amazing culture by staying in a Ugandan community!

Ugandan people are incredibly warm and friendly, and you’ll discover this as soon as you set foot in Kajjansi! Whilst you’re here, we’ll give you some basic language skills so that you can greet locals, buy your fresh fruit from the market and find your way around. If you’re travelling alone here, don’t worry. Aside from the many people you’ll meet on the project, you will be able to plan adventures with other volunteers, as you hang out together back at our comfortable accommodation.
