Volunteer Teaching in Kandy Sri Lanka

How would you like to volunteer abroad, teaching English to children across a whole host of projects? Well, on our Volunteer Teaching project, in Kandy, Sri Lanka, you can! Truly, this project will give you an experience of a lifetime, and your time and efforts will make a positive impact on the lives of these cheeky, happy little munchkins. Meanwhile, you can learn about the culture and Sri Lankan way of life as you bring sunshine into the lives of children from a wide variety of backgrounds and abilities.

Below are some of the places where you may be sharing your skills, songs and stories as a volunteer …

Preschool Teaching

Here you will work at one of our many Kindergartens, helping young children learn their first English words! However, you’ll also be helping other staff, and will be expected to create teaching plans and ‘muck in’ as needed during your time here.

Special Needs School

Spend your time at the Special Needs School where you work with students who have learning or physical disabilities. Importantly, empathy, patience and fun are key here, as you help to build their confidence as well as their independence.

Teaching English to Adults

Indeed, our Teaching English to Adults programme one of the most rewarding, as it is aimed at improving the language skills and confidence of individuals to help them towards meaningful employment. In fact, English is crucial here for such a popular tourist destination, yet many do not have a good foundation in the language.

Village Children

Sadly, village children tend not to have access to English tuition as it is expensive. Therefore, your volunteering input will be incredibly valuable here! However, we suggest that you combine this project with another, as the project only takes place for a few hours in the afternoon.
