Community English Exchange Volunteer in Nagano
Trip Details
Community English Exchange Volunteer in Nagano, Japan
If you have a passion for helping people have a brighter future, then this project with TRU Experience Travel is one for you! During this project you will help locals gain more confidence and practice speaking English to foreigners. The Japanese do study English at school but little focus is put on conversation and pronunciation with limited chance to practice what they are learning. The purpose of this project is to give local communities to put their English skills to the test and practice speaking in English with volunteers like you.
Help improve the confidence of local villagers and encourage more tourists to the area
In Otaki, it can be a challenge to get around without speaking Japanese as a hotel would sometimes rather refuse a booking of a foreigner than lose face by not providing perfect service due to the language barrier. This is having a negative impact on the village initiatives to attract more foreign travellers to its picturesque surroundings so they are in desperate need of a confidence boost which is where you come in! You will help local villagers and business owners have more confidence speaking English by offering them a place to practice!
Explore and discover Japan in your free time
During this project, your weekends will be for you to do as you please. Whether you want to explore with the volunteer friends you make along the way, or by yourself, there is so much to discover around Japan. Be it you stay local and understand more about the village you are staying in or venture out to bigger cities, you won’t be short of exploration and the local team will be on hand to help you plan your adventures!
